A nonsurgical buttock augmentation is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure to change the size, shape and contour of the buttocks. The procedure may be performed with hyaluronic acid fillers, or bio-stimulating substances like Sculptra. Patients may need repeat treatments to maintain results.
Hyaluronic Acid fillers
The amount of hyaluronic acid that is produced by the body begins to decline with age, which can result in sagging and a loss of volume to the buttock area. Hyaluronic acid is a safe and natural substance that is used in many cosmetic treatments due to its instant hydrating and volumizing effect. Hyaluronic Acid injections to the buttock plump up and restore volume to depressed or wrinkled areas and can be used to correct asymmetry and irregularities.
Sculptra
Sculptra (poly-l-lactic acid) is FDA-approved for buttock augmentation. A Sculptra lift works differently than other kinds of soft-tissue fillers. Instead of adding volume outright like hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra is injected into the subcutaneous layer and works by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production. This results in a gradual increase in volume to give buttocks a fuller and smoother appearance. Furthermore, it improves and firms the skin texture, and reduces the appearance of cellulite and stretch marks
The synthesis of collagen takes several weeks to months and requires several treatment sessions to obtain an improvement in volume and shape.
Side Effects
While rare, there are potential risks associated with all cosmetic procedures like a non-surgical buttock augmentation including bruising, swelling, skin discolouration, mild discomfort and bumps underneath the skin.
